Best Practice Safety Measures
The safety of our guests has always been our number one priority.
While we already follow best practice operating protocols, when our walking season resumes we'll be taking extra steps to minimise COVID-19 risk and give you even more peace of mind. This includes reinforcing our hygiene and cleaning practices on all walk departures, adjusting group sizes where required, additional pre-trip screening for guests, social distancing measures on the trail, and increasing our capacity to respond to guests or guides who report flu-like symptoms prior to, or during a walk.
Small Groups, Wide-Open Spaces
Walk in wild open spaces, breathe in the world's freshest air, and retreat each evening to the comfort of our private accommodation, nestled in the heart of the Tasmanian wilderness. You’ll walk in a small group led by our expert guides, with the confidence that behind the scenes, a dedicated support team representing one of the world's most experienced and awarded eco-tourism operators is there for you at all times.
End the day with just you and your group.
Our huts and lodges are nestled in the wilderness, exclusively operated by the Tasmanian Walking Company, and only used for our guided walks. There's no requirement at the end of each day to board a bus and stay overnight in an AirBnB or hotel.
When you walk with us, your experience concludes each evening at our lodge, reserved exclusively for your group only. So, you can arrive knowing your safety and comfort is our guides’ top priority.
Settle in by the fire with a glass of Tasmanian wine, or wander outside and soak up the other-worldly majesty of a glowing Milky Way cast across the night sky...knowing that, beyond your cosy shelter, there's not another soul within cooee.
We're listening to the experts
Our team of senior leaders meet regularly to discuss our ongoing response to COVID-19 and ensure all our decisions are based on the latest information, protocols and advice from health authorities. This knowledge has informed the further development of our normal safety and risk mitigation strategy to activate new measures around COVID-19 when walks can resume. Our COVID-19 safety measures are also routinely reviewed to ensure ongoing compliance with any new directives from health authorities.
