Cradle Mountain / Overland Track    December 2025

Walk review from Gen L, Cradle Mountain / Overland Track Tasmania

A very special walk with a very special group of people at a very special time of year.

I did the Overland Adventure Walk from 27 Dec 2025 to 2 Jan 2026

Everything about the walk and experience is as described in the brochure; the highlight at the end of a hard day of walking was always having the huts appear at the end of the track. The huts are stunning, and each has something new to offer... Worth every expensive penny.

HOWEVER, without a smidge of a doubt, the guides are what make this walk what it is. Pat, Daniel, and Dandy each day made sure we were safe, well briefed, well hydrated, well fed, educated about the history, flora, and fauna of the area, and even entertained. They did all this while walking the same number of kms with much heavier packs, doing all the camp chores, and cooking each day. Each brought their own personal vibe, but they were unified by the commonality of wanting to ensure that their guests had an experience to remember, and a love of the track/region to take away with us.

Special mention also to the random group of people who came together to form a very cool group to walk with!

A very special walk with a very special group of people at a very special time of year. What started as a paid-for experience is now a cherished lifetime memory. Many thanks, very grateful.
