We had the best Christmas ever on the Overland Track, and our wonderful guides Joe and Will even managed to magic up some snow on Mt Ossa for Christmas Day!
Every aspect of our trip was perfectly organised and executed, from transport to and from the Track with the friendly Bruce and Des, to the beautiful cosy eco-huts and luxury of luxuries: hot showers! The food was amazing: freshly-baked afternoon tea and REAL bread, delicious dinners and great porridge, not to mention an improvised birthday cake and Christmas dessert: these boys can really cook!!. The reception at the end of the trip was a lovely finishing touch.
We enjoyed well-paced walks and rest breaks, convivial and relaxing evenings with much laughter, comfy beds, and learned lots about the history of the track as well as the wildlife from our guides. Who could ever forget the wombat fossil tree?!
Will and Joe were absolutely amazing, working hard from early morning to late at night to take care of us, all the while smiling and joking. As well as being great guides, they were superb hosts, cooks, musicians, caretakers, caregivers, professional yet heaps of fun, and we are privileged to have enjoyed their company. No praise is too high for them...huge thanks to both of them.
Thank you Cradle Mountain Huts for a wonderful trip, and for making it possible to enjoy this wonderful wilderness in comfort. We had so many great experiences, giving us so many happy memories, and look forward to seeing you again!
