THREE CAPES LONG WEEKEND

THREE CAPES LONG WEEKEND

If you’re in need of a walking holiday but don’t want to be trapsing through the wilderness from dawn until dusk, our new Three Capes Long Weekend is just the right blend of walking and relaxing. It’s a fine way to spend three memorable days with friends.

Stay home and a weekend can be swallowed by tasks staring at you. There’s no chance of that on the Three Capes Long Weekend. From the moment you board our private vessel in downtown Hobart, we cast-off everyday life pressures and head for Tasmania’s wilderness.

DAY 1:

We like to get the biggest day conquered on day one. About 14 kilometers of walking, our return hike out to Cape Raoul is spectacular. There is plenty of time for photos as we make our way through Eucalypt Forest and out towards the cape. If the weather is good to us, we’ll enjoy lunch at this dramatic outpost overlooking the Tasman Sea.

Tonight, you’ll be among the first to stay at our new Standup Point Camp. This is your refuge, a place to sit back on your own private deck with a local Pinot while our guides prepare chef-inspired courses. After shared conversation and Tasmanian fare, retreat to the comfort of a plump pillow and cosy bed in preparation for tomorrow.

DAY 2:

Today we don’t hurry. Wake to the aroma of fresh coffee and make your way to the communal space for a hot brekkie. The cheery guides will have risen well before you! We’ll then be transported to Fortescue Bay for our Cape Hauy trek. There’s plenty of steps on this walk – about 4,500 or so.

This walk takes about 3-4 hours so there’s no rush. It’s worth looking down and admiring the impressive stone trackwork between looking up at the mighty dolerite spires coming into view. Up at the lookout you’ll even spot the Totem Pole, a sea stack popular among brave rock climbers.

Upon return to Fortescue, it’s always nice to pull the boots off and feel cool sands underfoot. If the clear waters call, there’s plenty of time for a swim. We’ll then head back to camp for another relaxed evening under the stars.

DAY 3:

Today involves a climb – up Mount Brown. Yes, there’s some uphill but it comes with great reward. From the summit our panoramic scene features Cape Raoul, Cape Pillar and Tasman Island. Total kilometers for this final day stand at just six.

After our climb, we venture down the steps to Remarkable Cave. Carved by the relentless seas, standing before it you’ll come to understand its name. As we head for Hobart, our time together isn’t over. We’ll drop into an award-winning vineyard for a celebratory lunch. With its hand tended vines and calm outlook, this family-owned vineyard is a fitting locale to come together a final time before we head back to town.

We invite you to spend the long weekend with us. A Three Capes Long Weekend.
