Cradle Mountain / Overland Track    December 2018

Walk review from Sean, Becki and Kendall Ingersoll, Cradle Mountain

I had been wanting to walk the Overland Track for almost four years, ever since I saw a photo of Barn Bluff in "Outside" magazine.

Our walk was a combination 25th anniversary celebration for my wife and I as well as an early high school graduation present for my daughter, Kendall. It was so worth the wait! Our guides Nick, Adrien and Adam were amazing--knowledgable, funny, accommodating and fantastic cooks, to boot! Over the course of the six days we learned so much about Australian and Tasmanian history, culture, ecology...you name it. We saw echidnas and wombats, wallabies and even a king snake. The weather was a complete mix of sun and precipitation, clouds and blue skies; we felt like we got the full Tassie treatment! We climbed local mountains and splashed in mountain lakes and waterfalls. The huts were very warm and comfortable and the food and wine were amazing after a long day of booting it on the Track. The other members of our group were fabulous company and I am so glad to have shared this experience with all of them. Add in the delightful pre- and post-walk accommodations at the Quamby Estate and it was quite possibly the perfect adventure.

Thank you, TWC, for sharing your country and your hospitality with us.

Cheers,

Sean Ingersoll
