We’re celebrating after the Sydney Morning Herald named us among the world’s best eco-tourism operators in its 2024 Traveller Awards
SMH listed us among some of the world’s best eco-tourism operators, in its Traveller Awards 2024 Sustainability category.
“You know they’re genuine when general manager Heath Garratt, out for a weekend walk, carries 20 tangled kilos of fishing boat flotsam kilometres along the beach, up the steep steps and back to the van.”
Heath started at TWC in 1998 as a guide at Cradle Mountain then Bay of Fires (where he also got married, which shows just how much this place means to him 💓) and has been pivotal in helping shape the Company into the industry leader that this award affirms.
The judges went on to highlight our commitment to leaving no trace and low food miles, plus our off-grid accommodation, plus the acknowledgement by our guides of traditional owners and land care practices.
The Tasmanian Walking Company Foundation was also mentioned for its support of wildlife and landscape conservation programs.
We’re incredibly proud of this recognition and will continue our efforts to protect and preserve our environment. 🌿
